Over the last few years one of the ongoing issues in intranet management has been the extent to which users need to have a personalised view of intranet content. I have seen some good examples in the case of employee self-service applications, but on a broader level I have yet to see a convincing business case based on a survey of users.
James Robertson (Step Two Designs) has launched a survey in conjunction with the Intranet Leadership Forum, CMSWatch, Boye IT and CM Forum to try to establish what intranet personalisation features are being offered in organisations. The survey has been well designed and will take all of 60 seconds to complete. Even if you don't offer personalisation please answer the initial question (5 seconds!) so that the survey gives a assessment of the overall level of adoption of personalisation, as well as the adoption of some specific features by organisations that do provide personalised access to their intranet.
The results will be make public in the near future, and will certainly be blogged here.
