At the excellent JBoye08 Conference in Aarhus last week Stephen Arnold and I announced the imminent publication of Successful Enterprise Search Management. This is the first book to be written on the entire process of justifying, specifying, evaluating, selecting and implementing an enterprise search application. Stephen has already written a number of books on search, including Beyond Search, from which his blog takes its name. I wrote Making Search Work a couple of years ago, and sales have now outstripped my book on content management which I wrote in 2005. However this book was more focused on intranet search, rather than enterprise search implementation.

The book will be released as a download in late November and be available in print during December. There is a pre-publication offer of $155, details of which can be found on the Intranet Focus web site.

Stephen asked me to co-author the book when we met up at the Enterprise Search Summit in New York this year. We have known each other for some years but this seemed to be the ideal time to combine our experience of search technology and its implementation, which for both of us goes back two decades. We quickly divided up the chapters between us and wrote the first draft of the book in just three months. The book is being published in the UK by Galatea, and we would like to thank Steve Newton, one of the principals of Galatea, for agreeing to add this book to the Galatea catalogue.
